Creating a Typographics festival logo, poster and landing page in English and Devanagari type.
In Typography III, I participated in a class project that explored non-Latin Typography. I was assigned to work with a partner on the Devanagari type. The project involved developing a type system with Latin and non-Latin scripts. This included creating a logo inspired by cultures that use Devanagari, sharing guidelines with our assigned course partner, and using our partner’s logo to develop a poster and landing page for the Typographics 2021 Festival.

User Research
Devanagari Type System
Our instructor assigned non-Latin type to develop a Latin and non-Latin type system. I was assigned Devanagari and created a type system using the fonts Lato and Palanquin.

Developing the Typographics Logo:
Adobe and Figma guidelines of our type system and logos were shared with our partners to collaborate in a final logo and poster design.

Creating the Prototype
The last step of this project was to use the logo design and create a mobile landing page for the event, one in English and the other in Devanagari.

Result
The objective of this project was to understand and incorporate multi-script design into the Typographics 2021 Festival. Non-Latin script is emerging quickly as a platform for designers to leverage as our world becomes equal and diverse. This project explored developing type systems, using collaboration with guidelines to create a poster and logo in a professional setting for a Typographics festival.
