OTT Gaming Research


Research Summary

OTT streaming (TV) is a new and exciting frontier within gamification. Tennis Channel wanted to explore the latest trends in live gamification and I was tasked to research and ideate new concepts for OTT Gamification. I worked with a director to research and present how Tennis Channel could introduce OTT gamification in their streaming platform.


The Process

I reserched various trends in OTT gaming, created a competitive analysis, provided insights on top games, technology and monetization opportunties. I focused on our target users for Tennis Channel and what type of games they prefered. My research would benefit multiple gamification projects and provided valuable information in understanding their users in a gaming atmosphere.


Leading Ideation

I took the lead in coordinating a brainstorm workshop which would allow different team members to participate and share their creativity and out of the box thinking. As a result we came up with several creative concepts that were later ideated and included in a deck featuring trends, gamification, and concepts for OTT gaming initatives.

Loyalty & Rewards


Building a Journey Map

With the launch of a new game center came the opportunity for loyalty and rewards. The loyalty team selected a vendor to design a feature that would allow the user access to different sites and rewards on the news platform. I was initially asked to aide in research for loyalty and create a journey map. I reviewed the demo that the vendor provided of the feature and created a step-by-step process of what our target user would go through with each step and provided positive or negative feedback the user would perceive within the product flow. This was presented to stakeholders and the feature was approved.


Concepts and Ideation

In addition, I rendered a new look and feel for the app, creating mockups that would show different concepts that aligned with our customer and business needs. In addition, I was asked to assist in branding for the loyalty program because the loyalty team wanted to go in a different direction from what marketing had provided at the time.

Loyalty Insights

The News department knew they wanted a loyalty rewards program, but wasn't sure where to start or which type of loyalty would work for them. I worked with a UX resaercher to reserch different loyalty programs and how they could work within gamification. I broke down all the different loyalty programs that could work within a digital platform, my team member and I provided competive insights and generational prefrences for loyalty. The research was helpful in allowing the team's director to choose the right vendor and create a plan for a loyatly and rewards program.

Tennis Channel

Tennis Personas

Tennis Channel was in need of understanding who their users were and how they could provide products and services for them. During my first week with Sinclair's Tennis Channel team, I assisted in a project that required personas. I researched who their users were from different generations, what type of social media they used, their goals, frustrations, interests, games, and brands they love. I provided feedback from users based on product reviews and was later asked to create a heuristic report on the functionality and UI of the Tennis Channel App. The information I provided was useful for future e-commerce projects, the game center, and upcoming Tennis Channel initatives.
